Josie Jones, Psychodynamic Psychotherapist

I am a qualified British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) registered psychodynamic psychotherapist :https://www.bpc.org.uk/find-a-therapist/therapist/8078.

This means my approach is to seek to understand how your current emotional difficulties can have their origin in thoughts and feelings located somewhere in past childhood experiences.

I have trained and worked clinically within the Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust, Central & North West London NHS Foundation Trust and in a charitable voluntary setting.

My membership of the BPC prescribe that I work within and adhere to strict professional guidelines and ethical codes of clinical practice.

The Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists is the professional body for psychotherapists who have trained at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.

Along side my private practice, I have a specialist clinical interest in the psychological impact of trauma, identity and forced migration and currently work for part of the week as a psychotherapist delivering long & short term psychotherapeutic trauma support to men & women within an award winning service and joint venture between Tavistock & Portman Foundation NHS Trust & the British Red Cross. As part of a small team, I played an integral role in setting up and developing the service which supports refugees, some of whom are facing significant practical & immeasurable psychological trauma & challenges in accessing primary & secondary mental health services across London.

I have co-presented several psychodynamic papers to the Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust Scientific Meeting, to the British Red Cross and to the UNHCR on the subject of my clinical experiences of trauma within the context of setting up this innovative service.

I am currently co-writing a clinical paper & contributing to a book on complex trauma, organisational dynamics and my clinical observations on trauma, both of which, I hope will be published in 2018.

I trained & qualified as a psychodynamic psychotherapist at the internationally recognised Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council.

I am a full & registered member of the:

  • British Psychoanalytic Council (Registration Number:20558)
  • Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists.
  • Black & Asian Therapists Network
